Roy Hodgson became only the eighth manager to take charge of 400 Premier League matches as he saw his depleted Crystal Palace side share a goalless draw with Nottingham Forest.
Palace went into the match at Selhurst Park missing a number of key attacking players through injury and suffered another setback as Jeffery Schlupp limped off midway through the first half.
With Forest’s leading scorer Taiwo Awoniyi also out for a month and Palace’s injury woes, scoring opportunities were always going to be at a premium.
Forest had the better of the first-half chances, most notably when Morgan Gibbs-White went through on 21 minutes but saw his volleyed lob over Sam Johnstone hit the far post and rebound into the goalkeeper’s arms.
Palace had a glorious opportunity to go ahead in the 63rd minute when Odsonne Edouard set up Jean-Philippe Mateta on the edge of the area but the French forward shot narrowly wide.
The away side looked more like getting a late winner but Johnstone stood strong to deny Forest twice as Palace stay ninth with 12 points, while Forest are 13th with nine points.
