Hi, my name is Richard Wood and I’m a 31 year old professional footballer currently playing for Rotherham United. My ex-clubs include Sheffield Wednesday, Coventry City and Charlton Athletic. I have now amassed over 400 professional appearances since my debut back in 2003 and hopefully there are many more to come.
I have an incredible family consisting of my girlfriend Jade, and my two young boys, Jenson and Graye.
My eldest son, Jenson, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in 2012, at the age of three. It’s been a tough few years for us all as we manage his condition, but we are slowly adjusting and my blogging will cover this.
I am an ambassador for JDRF, the Type 1 Diabetes charity and I will do all I can to raise awareness of the condition and help to find a cure.
My career so far has seen me move around the country and I have now lived in ten different houses in 16 years of professional football, which is crazy when you think about it.
